5.1-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Eastern Japan

Doha: A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Japan on Thursday, with no reports of casualties or damage, according to Japan Meteorological Agency. The earthquake, which struck off Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo, was epicentered in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of about 50 km.

According to Qatar News Agency, no tsunami warnings have been issued following the seismic event. Japan's geographical location at the intersection of four tectonic plates makes it particularly susceptible to such seismic activities. Additionally, the country is home to 100 active volcanoes, further highlighting its vulnerability to natural disturbances.
