Latakia: Three militants were killed and four members of the Syrian forces were injured during armed clashes in northwest Syria. Commander of Internal Security in Latakia Governorate Brig. Gen. Abdulaziz Hilal Al Ahmad explained that the Syrian security authorities carried out a qualitative operation targeting an armed cell involved in carrying out assassinations, field operations, and the detonation of explosive devices, in addition to targeting points belonging to Internal Security and the Syrian army.
According to Qatar News Agency, the operation resulted in the arrest of one member of the cell and the killing of three others, while four members of the Syrian forces sustained minor injuries. During the security operation, the Internal Security units seized explosive devices, various weapons, different ammunition, and military vests.
On the other hand, the Syrian Interior Ministry announced the implementation of a security operation, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service and the International Coalition forces, targeting one of the ISIS sites in a city in the Damascus countryside governorate, after careful monitoring and intensive intelligence surveillance. Head of Internal Security in the Damascus countryside Brig. Gen. Ahmed Al Dalati said that the operation resulted in the arrest of a prominent leader in the ISIS organization and a number of his aides, in addition to the seizure of an explosive belt and a military weapon in their possession.
