Kyiv: Ukrainian authorities announced that at least 14 people were killed and 44 others injured in violent Russian airstrikes targeting Kyiv last night.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said in a statement via Telegram, "27 locations in different districts of the capital came under enemy fire tonight," adding that the Russian strikes affected "residential buildings, educational institutions and critical infrastructure facilities." He pointed out that the attacks caused widespread fires and significant material damage.
For his part, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration Tymur Tkachenko stated that search operations are still underway under the rubble for possible victims and stressed that rescue efforts are continuing in the affected areas.
Earlier, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that Russian drones reached the capital from three directions and urged residents to take shelter during airstrikes.
In the southern city of Odesa, authorities announced that six people were injured in similar attacks.
These attacks come amid ongoing military escalation between Kyiv and Moscow, amid repeated international warnings against targeting civilians and residential areas. Military operations increasingly rely on air and missile strikes, further complicating the security situation and compounding the humanitarian burden.
