Years of Culture Initiative Marks Milestone in Qatar-Canada-Mexico Partnership

Doha: To mark 100 days of the Qatar-Canada-Mexico 2026 Year of Culture, the Years of Culture initiative of Qatar Museums has highlighted the contribution of Qatar's partnership with Canada and Mexico in promoting sustainable cultural dialogue and establishing a world based on discovery, understanding, and building human connections.

According to Qatar News Agency, during a celebration marking the occasion, Advisor to the Years of Culture Initiative for Latin America and former Qatari Ambassador to Mexico, HE Mohammed Al Kuwari, emphasized the importance of fostering mutual understanding amid current global conflicts. He noted that such events provide an alternative answer to the persistent question of coexistence in a world where divisions seem prevalent.

HE Karim Morcos, the Canadian Ambassador to the State of Qatar, highlighted the significance of cultural ties in these challenging times of global uncertainty. He remarked that culture serves as a reminder of shared connections, spanning from cuisine and the arts to the simplest forms of interaction.

The initiative confirmed that its first 100 days have built upon key events such as Art Basel Qatar and the Qatar International Food Festival. At these gatherings, chefs and artists from Canada and Mexico shared their culinary traditions in Doha, fostering understanding through shared experiences that combined cooking with public engagement.

The initiative looks forward to future projects in photography, sports, and design, drawing inspiration from Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. In a related context, Canada and Mexico continue to create genuine spaces for cultural exchange, reinforcing their active partnership in the 2026 Year of Culture.

Through this collaboration, Qatar, Canada, and Mexico reaffirm their commitment to using culture as a means to bridge distances between peoples.
