Years of Culture Initiative Announces CultuRide Cycling Tour in Morocco.

November 02 – The Years of Culture initiative announced the launch of the “CultuRide tour: Morocco”, a cultural cycling tour, that will take place from November 15 to 23.

According to Qatar News Agency, the tour was unveiled during a press conference as a collaboration between the Years of Culture initiative and Ali bin Towar Al Kuwari, a professional athlete, social media influencer, and cycling enthusiast from Qatar. It aims to bring together professional athletes and cycling enthusiasts on a journey across Morocco, allowing them to explore the country’s remarkable historical and heritage sites.

Mohammed Saad Al Rumaihi, CEO of Qatar Museums, emphasized in his speech that through this partnership with Morocco, as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, the initiative is celebrating Morocco’s rich heritage while looking towards a shared future vision. He highlighted the significant benefits of cultural exchange for both countries.

Al Rumaihi further elaborated that the CultuRide tour is not merely
a cycling event but an immersive experience designed to deepen connections with Morocco’s picturesque cities and villages, and to foster relationships with its people. He expressed hope that participants would gain valuable insights during the tour, strengthening ties between Qatari and Moroccan communities.

Ali bin Towar Al Kuwari, serving as the official ambassador of the CultuRide, will represent Qatar, leveraging sports as a means to unite people and encourage international cultural exchanges.

In his statement to Qatar News Agency, Al Kuwari emphasized that the cultural cycling tour aims to underscore the role of sports and culture as powerful connectors between societies. He noted that participants will have the opportunity to learn about Morocco’s historical monuments, economic landmarks, and cultural heritage. The tour will feature a distinguished group of 28 Qatari youth, exploring hard-to-reach areas to foster cultural exchange and discover common ground between Qatar and Morocco.

The tour is set
to commence from Casablanca, with Qatari cyclists covering a distance of 600 kilometers. The route includes stops in major cities such as Marrakech and Tangier, as well as traditional villages in the Atlas mountains, each stop reflecting Morocco’s rich history, arts, and traditions. This initiative embodies the Year of Culture’s mission to promote cultural understanding through shared experiences.
