Doha: Chief Executive Officer of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Porshia Archer praised the prestigious global status of the Qatar TotalEnergies Women's Open Tennis Tournament. According to Qatar News Agency, Archer emphasized the tournament's long history of hard work and efforts to achieve the highest levels of success in women's tennis. She highlighted the record-breaking achievements of the previous edition, noting that audience attendance and financial returns significantly impacted the overall success of the WTA season. Archer expressed hope that this year's edition at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex will continue the success.
Meanwhile, Canadian player Victoria Mboko expressed her happiness at qualifying for the quarterfinals of the 2026 Qatar TotalEnergies Women's Open. Mboko stated during a post-match press conference, following her victory over Russia's Mira Andreeva, that she is proud of her performance during the match.
Mboko added that facing Andreeva was challenging, as the match was very close. However, she succeeded in executing decisive shots at crucial moments, attributing her victory to maintaining focus during key points.
