World Summit AI Qatar: Qatar’s Strategic AI Vision Highlighted by Digital Industry Leader

Doha: Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Reem Al Mansoori, emphasized Qatar's progressive strides in artificial intelligence readiness, underscoring the nation's commitment to becoming a leader in the AI sector through a clear national vision and strategic investments in digital infrastructure.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Mansoori, in her keynote address, stated that artificial intelligence has evolved from an emerging technology to a crucial element in revitalizing the economy and transforming institutions. She noted that the global adoption of AI technologies is accelerating at an unprecedented rate, driving societal progress.

Al Mansoori highlighted that advancements, especially in generative AI, are challenging governments and economic sectors to rethink work methodologies, governance, and service delivery. She pointed out that while these developments offer significant opportunities, they also come with considerable responsibilities.

She stressed that Qatar's focus on AI aligns with its National Development Strategy and Digital Agenda 2030, which aim to develop human capabilities, enhance research and innovation, and leverage AI for economic diversification and improved quality of life. The nation's success in digital transformation is attributed to long-term investments in digital infrastructure, connectivity, and energy, as well as global partnerships.

Al Mansoori explained that Qatar adopts an impact-driven approach in AI deployment, concentrating on sectors that can deliver national and regional value. The Government AI Program, spearheaded by the Ministry, provides a framework for government entities to explore and implement innovative solutions in collaboration with global technology partners.

She also noted the importance of human capital in digital transformation, projecting the creation of 26,000 jobs in the ICT sector by 2030 and the establishment of a robust knowledge-based economy. Additionally, Qatar is building an AI ecosystem grounded in transparency, security, and ethical responsibility, with a commitment to privacy protection, inclusivity, and ensuring that all societal segments benefit from AI technologies.

Al Mansoori concluded by acknowledging the rapid pace at which AI is reshaping the world and called for collaboration among governments, the private sector, and the scientific community to achieve a more sustainable and advanced future.
