The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Department of Culture said it continues its sustained efforts to strengthen technological and digital services in public libraries by subscribing to a new digital library that allows to download and read 328,480 e-books in various fields of knowledge.
In a statement published on the occasion of World Book Day (April 23) and National Reading Day (May 10), the Ministry said that this step is an opportunity to offer digital content constantly renewed and in line with the needs of readers, while promoting reading and democratizing access to books.
The Ministry aims, through this new service, to expand the catalog of public libraries, extend access to the digital library to as many libraries as possible and provide about 9,979 accounts for the benefit of their members to access the platform, download books for free and get information instantly and with minimal effort, it said.
According to the Ministry, this new platform is distinguished by its rich Arabic digital content, since it includes more than 20,600 titles in Arabic, stressing that this is an original digital experience that reflects the efforts of Moroccan and Arab publishing houses to keep pace with technological developments, while opening new horizons to the Moroccan cultural book in particular, by disseminating the creative texts and reflections of Moroccan authors on a wide geographical area.
The digital library also features a “rich and promising cultural program”, which includes 141,500 e-books in French, 58,400 in English and 8,000 titles in other foreign languages. It is also an opportunity to consult a diversified stock of Moroccan and international literary productions that exceeds 100,000 titles, to which are added about 60,000 books for children and young adults to satisfy their cultural curiosity and stimulate their imagination.
