Workshop at DIBF Invokes Reflection on Theatrical Art

Doha: The workshop 'Behind the Curtain', held on the margins of the Doha International Book Fair (DIBF), highlighted the importance of reflection on theatrical work and its behind-the-scenes processes, starting from the initial spark of creativity in the playwright's mind to the tools and technologies leveraged in staging the performance.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event was addressed by theater director Safwat Al Ghasham and featured a comprehensive interactive presentation about the innovative atmosphere authors encounter during writing, along with the imagination that enriches theatrical texts, prior to imparting these ideas to the technical crew responsible for implementing them.

In addition, the workshop zeroed in on the role of the technical crew, including lighting design, scenic design, and stage direction, emphasizing the importance of harmony among all production elements to build a cohesive and compelling theatrical performance worthy of its audience.

The workshop is intended to spotlight the invisible behind-the-scenes personnel who silently contribute to the success of any theatrical show, as what is seen on stage is literally the gist of a tremendous effort from the very moment the idea begins to take shape in the writer's mind, Al Ghasham elucidated.

Al Ghasham stressed the importance of raising public awareness of the theater's internal arts, highlighting that an understanding of behind-the-scenes action profoundly enriches the viewer's experience and deepens appreciation for theatrical art.

The event is part of a series of cultural activities held on the margins of DIBF, aiming to broaden the horizon of artistic and cultural awareness and provide the public with the opportunity to explore new worlds that contribute to shaping the innovative experience in all its dimensions.
