Women’s World Cup 2023: National Team Arrives in Casablanca

The Moroccan women’s national team delegation arrived at Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport on Thursday from Australia, where it made a historic appearance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Moroccan delegation was welcomed at the airport by the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, and members of the Federation’s executive committee.

The members of the national team received a warm welcome from an enthusiastic crowd who had come to express their admiration and pride in the performance of the Atlas Lionesses, who reached the Round of 16 in their first appearance at a World Cup.

Morocco, the first Arab nation to take part in the Women’s World Cup and reach the round of 16, commanded respect at this global event, after holding their own against seasoned national teams.

With back-to-back wins over Asian Cup finalists South Korea and Copa America finalists Colombia, the Moroccan players picked up six points from three matches to qualify for the Round of 16 as runners-up in Group H, behind Colombia.
