West Bank Faces Widespread Escalation in Israeli Attacks, Demolitions, and Arrests

Jerusalem: The Israeli occupation forces launched Monday a large-scale campaign of raids in various areas of the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, during which a number of citizens were arrested and assaulted.

According to Qatar News Agency, in Jerusalem, a citizen was injured after being shot by Israeli occupation forces near the apartheid wall in the town of Al Ram, north of the city. He was then transferred to receive medical treatment.

In the same context, the occupation authorities forced a citizen in the Wadi Qaddum neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of Al Aqsa Mosque, to demolish his home on the pretext of building without a permit.

These measures are part of a systematic policy of forced displacement against Jerusalemites, given the occupation municipality's refusal to grant building permits to Palestinians and its imposition of exorbitant costs on those who refuse to carry out self-demolition.

In Tulkarm, Israeli occupation forces stormed the town of Kafr Al Labad and set up a military checkpoint on a main street. They searched vehicles, assaulted a citizen, confiscated a sum of money he had in his possession, and forced him, at gunpoint, into the trunk of his vehicle. Local residents were later able to free him.

They also stormed the Dhnaba suburb east of the city, raiding the home of Minister Mu'ayyad Shaaban, head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, before arresting his son after subjecting him to a field investigation.

In the village of Marda, north of Salfit, occupation forces arrested two citizens after raiding and searching their homes. Four citizens were also arrested in Hebron during raids on the towns of Halhul and Sa'ir. Local sources said that the detainees were subjected to physical assaults during the arrests.

In Nablus, occupation forces arrested a citizen after raiding his home in the eastern part of the city, while they raided the area of Joseph's Tomb and conducted field measurements there.

In Ramallah and Al Bireh, occupation forces arrested two young men after raiding the villages of Rammun and Ein Arik, and ransacking the contents of their homes.

These raids and attacks come amid a continuing escalation in the cities and towns of the West Bank, as the occupation forces continue their arrests, raids, and abuse of citizens, in addition to the demolition policy targeting Palestinian homes and property, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem, where the Jerusalem Governorate documented the demolition of 623 homes and facilities since Oct. 7, 2023, including inhabited homes and others under construction, in addition to commercial and economic facilities.
