Uzbek Minister Praises Qatar’s ICT Advancements, Eyes Enhanced Cooperation.


Doha: HE Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, lauded the significant achievements of the State of Qatar in advancing the information and communications technology sector.

According to Qatar News Agency, His Excellency emphasized that the State of Qatar, leveraging its extensive capabilities and expertise, has successfully established an advanced infrastructure encompassing telecommunications and modern data centers. He highlighted Qatar’s creation of a supportive environment for the growth of emerging companies, positioning it as a potential global hub for information and communications technology.

HE Shermatov commended the distinguished cooperation between the State of Qatar and Uzbekistan across various fields, expressing his aspiration to further enhance collaboration, particularly in the ICT sector. He noted the participation of several Qatari companies in Uzbekistan’s Information and Communications Technology Week, the country’s largest event of its kind,
aimed at exploring opportunities to bolster investment cooperation between the two nations.

HE the Minister underlined Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Qatar in multiple domains, particularly in exchanging expertise, building capacities, and enhancing training opportunities for youth. He also highlighted the potential for Qatari companies to expand their business operations in Uzbekistan, a country offering numerous investment opportunities.

Speaking about Uzbekistan’s ICT sector, Shermatov stated that his country is working to position itself as an incubator for information technology by creating favorable conditions for IT companies to establish branches in Uzbekistan. This includes offering attractive incentives to draw investments in the sector.

Regarding the ongoing /M360 Middle East and North Africa/ conference in Doha, HE Sherzod Shermatov underscored the event’s significance in bringing together key stakeholders. He noted that the conference opens new avenues for cooperatio
n, aiming to develop advanced and flexible infrastructure and provide alternative solutions to help Qatar maintain its global leadership in this field.

Shermatov also revealed Uzbekistan’s intention to organize the next edition of the conference in collaboration with the GSMA, marking the first such event in Uzbekistan.

The Minister reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s openness to becoming a hub not only for IT companies but also for tourism.
