New york: Major US stock indices opened higher Wednesday on Wall Street, with all three major indices rising. The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached a record high amid investor expectations that the longest government shutdown in US history might end.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 87.8 points, or 0.18 percent, to 48,015.79. The S and P 500 gained 21.2 points, or 0.31 percent, to 6,867.77. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 95.5 points, or 0.41 percent, to 23,563.839.
