Doha: US President Donald Trump pledged to provide significant assistance to Lebanon. Speaking at a press conference following his meeting with Lebanese President Gen. Joseph Aoun at the White House Tuesday, Trump said the Israeli army is in the process of withdrawing from southern Lebanon and is currently in the process of redeploying.

According to Qatar News Agency, President Aoun emphasized that the time has come for Lebanon to enjoy peace and expressed confidence that this can be achieved through cooperation. He thanked President Trump for his role in helping reach this historic achievement through the signing of the framework agreement with Israel.

Lebanese military units began deploying at dawn in the town of Zawtar Al-Gharbiya in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon. This deployment is based on ongoing contacts with the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L) following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.
