US President Gives Russian Counterpart New Deadline to End War in Ukraine

Doha: US President Donald Trump on Monday gave Russian President Vladimir Putin a new deadline of 10 to 12 days to make progress toward ending the war in Ukraine. During a press conference in Scotland following his meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump threatened to impose sanctions on Russia and those purchasing its exports if no progress is made on the Russia-Ukraine war.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US President expressed disappointment with Putin and noted that he is shortening the previously announced 50-day deadline he set earlier this month to just a few days. Trump also hinted at the possibility of imposing tariffs on Russia if his demands are not met.

The Kremlin has not yet commented on Trump's statements, while Ukraine welcomed them, with Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak thanking President Trump for his firmness and for delivering a clear message of peace through strength.
