Doha: Editors and analysts are emphasizing the importance of the upcoming Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee meeting, especially in light of the current regional challenges. According to Qatar News Agency, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Qatar University, Dr. Nafja Sabah Al Buafra, highlighted the committee's pivotal role in fortifying the strategic relations between Doha and Ankara. She attributed this strength to the shared visions and aspirations of the leaderships of both nations, with the economic aspect being a significant driver of their relationship. Dr. Al Buafra elaborated on the progress in partnership levels, evidenced by Qatari investments in Turkiye across sectors like hospitality, factories, airports, financial markets, and logistics. This investment reflects Qatar's commitment to its meticulously planned strategies with Turkiye. The upcoming 10th meeting of the committee, established in 2014, signifies a genuine desire to enhance bilateral cooperation. Previous meetings have resulted in numerous agreements spanning trade, economics, sports, tourism, health, and security. The assistant professor stated that the forthcoming session is anticipated to include several new agreements, particularly focusing on educational, cultural, and media sectors, alongside tourism. The relationship between Qatar and Turkiye also extends beyond commerce and investment, with alignment on many political issues regionally and internationally. This includes shared policies on Gaza, stability in Libya and Syria, the situation in Yemen, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Dr. Tarek Hamoud, an assistant professor of political science at Lusail University, remarked that the committee's establishment in 2014 culminated advanced coordination between Doha and Ankara. He noted the committee's role in fostering numerous agreements in trade, security, banking, education, health, and the environment, with each meeting amplifying economic and political cooperation. Dr. Hamoud highlighted the meeting's special significance amid regional challenges, where enhanced diplomatic and political coordination will likely be focal points. He explained that the committee's meetings follow intensive preparations for agreements across various fields, and a new cooperation agreement is expected.
