UNRWA Reports Over 12,000 Palestinian Children Forcibly Displaced in West Bank

Ramallah: More than 12,000 Palestinian children are currently living in a state of forced displacement in the West Bank due to ongoing military operations, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). This situation has arisen from Israel's military campaign in the northern governorates.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Israeli occupation army initiated a military operation termed 'Iron Wall' on January 21, 2025. Initially launched in the Jenin refugee camp, the operation has since expanded to include the Nur Shams and Tulkarm refugee camps.

UNRWA communicated through its account on X social media platform that over 12,000 children remain forcibly displaced in the occupied West Bank. In response to this crisis, the agency launched an emergency education program in February 2025 aimed at ensuring educational continuity for displaced children. This program provides temporary learning spaces, online teaching resources, self-learning materials, and psycho-social support.

UNRWA also highlighted that approximately 48,000 Palestinian children attend its schools in the West Bank. Since the conflict in the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023, lasting two years, the Israeli army and settlers have intensified activities in the West Bank. These actions include the killing of Palestinian civilians, demolitions of homes, displacement of residents, and the expansion of settlement construction.
