UNRWA: More than 150,000 pregnant women in Gaza face terrible health conditions

Ramallah – Ma’an – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned on Monday that more than 150,000 pregnant women in Gaza face terrible health conditions and risks, especially with the adverse displacement movement from Rafah to the south due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip since the 7th of May. Last October.

UNRWA stressed in a post on the X platform that ‘no child in the world should suffer like this. We need a ceasefire now.’

She considered that a new level of despair is unfolding before the eyes of the world with the exodus of Palestinians once again from Rafah towards Khan Yunis, where there is no water or infrastructure.

She concluded by denouncing the deteriorating humanitarian situation, describing it as: ‘a new level of despair, unfolding under the eyes of the world.’

Earlier, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) confirmed that 95% of pregnant or breastfeeding women face severe food shortages, while the United Nations Population Fund confirm
ed that 62 aid packages of maternity materials are waiting to be allowed to enter through the Rafah crossing.

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced, today, Monday, that the toll of the Israeli aggression on the Strip since the seventh of last October had risen to 35,091 martyrs and more than 78,827 injured, an infinite toll, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble. On the roads, ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them.
