UNIFIL Expresses Concern Over Civilian Casualties in Southern Lebanon

Al-Mansouri: The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) expressed concern over reports of civilian casualties, including two children, in an Israeli occupation drone strike observed by the mission in the town of Al-Mansouri, within its area of operations in southern Lebanon.

According to Qatar News Agency, the mission stated that Israeli forces directed laser beams at its peacekeepers who were conducting operational activity in Sector West.

The UNIFIL emphasized that it continues to protest all such actions and reminds all parties of their responsibility to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property, and to respect the inviolability of UN assets and premises at all times.

An Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon yesterday resulted in nine people being injured.

The ceasefire agreement reached last November stipulated the withdrawal of Israeli forces from border villages and towns in southern Lebanon within 60 days. Despite the Lebanese government's agreement to extend the deadline until Feb. 18, Israeli occupation forces remain stationed at five points and continue to violate the agreement through repeated military operations.
