Gaza strip: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) revealed on Saturday that 112 children in Gaza Strip face risk of malnutrition every day.
According to Qatar News Agency, UNICEF spokesperson Kazem Abu Khalaf warned of a severe deterioration in humanitarian situation in the enclave, noting that the number of children suffering from acute malnutrition increased by 180% when comparing February (during the ceasefire) with last June.
He stated that highlighted that only the children who have reached severe malnutrition but remain alive can be considered fortunate. Tens of thousands of children are suffering from varying degrees of malnutrition, posing a direct threat to their lives and futures.
Abu Khalaf also pointed out that the crisis is not limited to children, as many pregnant women are severely malnourished, leading to newborns facing critical health conditions from the very first moments of life.
