Doha: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday stressed the urgent need for a massive flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, given the scale of the catastrophe facing its population.
According to Qatar News Agency, Guterres emphasized the necessity for food, water, medicine, and fuel to enter Gaza in waves and without obstruction. He referenced a warning issued by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), a global hunger monitoring body, which confirmed that Gaza is on the brink of famine.
Guterres highlighted that Palestinians in Gaza are enduring a humanitarian catastrophe, adding that this situation is not merely a warning but a reality unfolding before the global community. The latest statistics indicate that the death toll in Gaza due to starvation and malnutrition has risen to 147, including 88 children.
