Doha: The United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine announced that the number of civilian casualties in the country reached its highest level in three years during the month of July. The mission confirmed civilian casualties in 18 out of the country's 24 regions during July.
According to Qatar News Agency, it stated that long-range weapons were responsible for nearly 40% of the casualties, resulting in 89 deaths and 572 injuries. The mission explained that the increase in civilian casualties in July compared to the previous month occurred mainly in areas controlled by the Ukrainian government along the front lines, reflecting the intensified military operations by Russian armed forces aimed at territorial gains.
It also noted that since Russia launched its military operation against Ukraine, the mission has documented the deaths of at least 13,883 civilians, including 726 children, and injuries to 35,548 others, including 2,234 children.
