The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) called today on countries to allow civilians fleeing Sudan to enter their territory and not to send them back to the conflict-torn country.
They advised governments not to send people back to Sudan because of the conflict there, adding that this applies to Sudanese nationals, foreigners and refugees hosted by Sudan as well as people who are stateless, or who do not have a passport or any form of identity document.
The UN meanwhile is trying to pressure both sides of the conflict to ensure a safe pathway for humanitarian assistance, after six trucks were stolen.
