The Military Administration of Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, said that in the early hours of Sunday morning air defense systems were involved in repelling air attacks near Kyiv.
Several explosions were reportedly heard in the Kyiv area as a result of bombing targets by the air defense systems.
Sirens were sounded throughout Ukraine to warn of the airstrikes.
On Saturday, an airstrike near the city of Dnipro in central Ukraine targeted a two-story house, injuring at least 13 people, while other residents remained trapped under rubble.
Governor of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast region Serhiy Lysak said in a Telegram message that three children were among the injured, and that emergency services arrived at the scene and pulled a man from the rubble.
Video posted on social media by Ukraine’s presidential press service showed rescue teams working in a broken and burning building amid piles of twisted building materials.
While there was no confirmation of a rocket attack by Ukrainian military officials, President Volodymyr Zelensky, who also wrote on the Telegram, said that the airstrike destroyed two buildings and “unfortunately” there were people in the rubble.
