London: Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom David Lammy praised the efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States as mediators to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, Lammy emphasized the UK's support for the mediation efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the US, urging all parties to resume discussions on pathways toward lasting peace and security. He highlighted the severe humanitarian suffering in Gaza and the urgent need for action.
Lammy called for the acceleration of humanitarian aid delivery in the coming hours and days. He remarked that the Israeli occupation's temporary pause to open humanitarian corridors and resume airdrops is insufficient to alleviate the suffering of those in need.
The Foreign Secretary highlighted the necessity of a ceasefire to end the conflict, the release of hostages, and the unhindered entry of aid into Gaza by land. He stated that land routes are the only viable and sustainable means of delivering aid, urging the removal of further barriers hindering aid.
Lammy also noted that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced plans to collaborate with Jordan to facilitate aid delivery to Gaza and evacuate children requiring critical medical care to the UK for treatment.
