UAE Establishes National Orchestra to Enrich Cultural Landscape

Abu Dhabi: The announcement of the establishment of the UAE National Orchestra marked a significant addition to the UAE's cultural and artistic landscape. It reflects the country's dedication to preserving its musical heritage while embracing various contemporary musical styles from around the world.

According to Qatar News Agency, the orchestra embodies the intellectual and cultural openness that characterizes Emirati society and reflects its desire to exchange knowledge and artistic experiences with others. This initiative maintains a strong commitment to enhancing local cultural identity and preserving national folklore in its various forms.

Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State and Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the UAE National Orchestra, stated that the establishment underscores the leadership's dedication to developing the arts. She highlighted their pivotal role in promoting cultural and human values, serving as a benchmark for civilizational and human progress, and fostering values of tolerance and coexistence.

Managing Director of the UAE National Orchestra, Sheikha Alia bint Khalid Al Qasimi, emphasized that the orchestra represents more than music; it stands as a symbol of commitment to celebrating cultural heritage and promoting creative excellence. She expressed her aspiration to make the UAE a hub for musical innovation and cultural exchange.

The UAE National Orchestra aims to attract elite musical talents aged 18 and above to take up permanent positions within both Arabic and Western ensembles, with the goal of weaving together the individual voices that form the cultural fabric of the UAE.

In a related development, the UAE has strengthened its efforts to develop and support cultural and creative work through the adoption of the UAE Order for Culture and Creativity. This initiative aims to recognize cultural figures and creators both locally and globally, encourage younger generations to engage in cultural and creative fields, and enhance the country's cultural diplomacy regionally and internationally.

On Nov. 5, the UAE honored a list of recipients of the UAE Order for Culture and Creativity. The Custodian category included notable figures such as Chairman of the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage Juma Al Majid, Cultural Advisor to the President of the UAE Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, and Founder of the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation Huda Ibrahim Al Khamis.

Recipients of the Order in the Pioneer category included artist Abdulqader Alrais, singer Mehad Hamad Al Muhairi, and actress Ruzaiqa Taresh Alotaiba.
