UAE Embassy in Moscow Holds Reception to Mark International Day of Human Fraternity

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE ambassador to the Russian Federation, held a reception for religious leaders and heads of diplomatic missions in the Russian Federation to mark International Day of Human Fraternity. The event was attended by the Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar and Dr. Roshan Abbasov, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis, Deputy Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, as well as Deacon Andrei Titushkin, of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations Secretariat for Far Abroad Countries.

HE Dr. Al Jaber’s speech at the ceremony highlighted the role of the UAE’s leadership in signing the Document on Human Fraternity, and underscored the UAE’s role in promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence and dialogue between different religions and societies. He said, “The UAE leadership will continue its efforts to spread the principles of tolerance, mutual respect and understanding, and support initiatives that promote solidarity and unity among peoples.”

His Excellency stressed that “these principles are part of the culture of the Emirati people and a legacy from our past”.

His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council (FNC) and Chairman of the World Muslim Communities Council, participated in a recorded speech where he discussed the UAE’s prominent role in bringing religions and cultures closer together.

Speakers also expressed their admiration for the UAE’s pioneering model and its approach to upholding the values of moderation, tolerance and coexistence among the people of different religions, races, cultures and nationalities that are living together in the country.

During the ceremony, a copy of the Document on Human Fraternity was displayed, along with a video of the historic visit to the UAE of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, as well as illustrations highlighting the UAE’s experiences in promoting harmony and peace among religions.
