Tubas: Two Palestinians were martyred Thursday in the occupied West Bank. One succumbed to his wounds from Israeli occupation forces' gunfire during a raid in Wadi al Far'a, south of Tubas, and the other was detained in Israeli prisons. This comes amid escalating Israeli violations against Palestinians in the occupied territories.
According to Qatar News Agency, in Tubas, a young Palestinian man succumbed to critical wounds he sustained from Israeli occupation forces' gunfire during a dawn raid on the Jabal al Thawr area in Wadi Al Far'a. This occurred after an Israeli special forces unit infiltrated the area and surrounded the martyr's home before wounding and arresting him, as reported by Palestinian security sources. The occupation authorities are still withholding his body.
In a related development, Israeli forces arrested two people after opening fire on their vehicle at a military checkpoint near the village of al Furdays, east of Bethlehem. This followed the establishment of two military checkpoints at Al Furdays village and the Qabr Hilweh Bridge, where they searched vehicles and checked citizens' IDs.
Separately, the Commission of Prisoners' Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced the death of a Palestinian prisoner from the town of Rummana in the Jenin Governorate, in Israeli prisons. The Israeli occupation forces arrested him from his home on July 10, and he was scheduled to appear before the Salem Military Court today. The Commission explained that the prisoner suffered from heart problems before his arrest and required intensive medical follow-up. It held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for his death.
With this death, the number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees killed since the beginning of the aggression has risen to 74, whose identities have been identified. The total number of martyrs from the prisoner movement since 1967 has reached 311, according to official data.
The Commission of Prisoners' Affairs and the Prisoners' Club affirmed that the rate of martyrdom of detainees inside Israeli prisons is witnessing a dangerous escalation, as a result of systematic policies that include torture, deprivation, medical neglect, and ill-treatment. They considered Al-Rifai's martyrdom a new crime added to the record of the occupation's violations, while simultaneously calling on the international community to take urgent action to hold Israeli officials accountable and end the state of impunity.
