Turkiye, Syria Discuss Security Cooperation, Current Developments

Ankara: Senior officials from Turkiye and Syria held a meeting in Ankara to discuss security cooperation and the latest developments in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Turkish delegation included Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Defense Yasar Guler, and National Intelligence Organization Chief Ibrahim Kalin. The Syrian side was represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Asaad Al Shibani, Minister of Defense Marhaf Abu Qasra, and Intelligence Chief Hussein Al Salama.

This recent meeting marks the third of its kind this year. The previous meetings focused on enhancing security and addressing counterterrorism issues, with the January meeting laying the groundwork for these discussions. On August 13, both nations signed a memorandum of understanding on military cooperation, highlighting the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations in the face of regional challenges.
