Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appointed Hafize Gaye Erkan as the new governor of the central bank.
“Seasoned banker Hafize Gaye Erkan has been chosen to succeed Sahap Kavcioglu as the governor of Turkiye’s Central Bank,” the Turkish Official Gazette announced on Friday.
Kavcioglu was named the chairman of the banking regulation and supervision agency.
Erkan will be the fifth person to assume the presidency of the central bank in four years and the first Turkish woman to hold this position. (QNA)
