Turkish President and Hungarian Prime Minister Explore Deepening Bilateral Ties and Global Issues

Istanbul: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Istanbul to explore ways to deepen bilateral relations across a range of fields. The two leaders also discussed several regional and international issues of mutual concern.

According to Qatar News Agency, Erdogan announced at a joint news conference the creation of a joint planning group with Hungary to address bilateral and global matters "in a more institutional framework." Several agreements were signed during the meeting covering areas such as aviation, security, technology, culture, and education.

Erdogan highlighted that the two countries are close to reaching their target of USD 6 billion in trade volume. He noted that 2025 has been designated as the Turkish-Hungarian Year of Science and Innovation, during which 28 joint initiatives have been carried out and funding allocated for shared projects.

Orban commended Erdogan's efforts regarding the Russia-Ukraine situation, emphasizing the importance of mutual collaboration on international issues.
