Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan asserted Tuesday that Iran's shelling of the GCC states was an incredibly wrong strategy. Fidan stated that Iran's bombardment of Qatar and the mediator state of Oman, alongside Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, constitutes a gravely misguided and reckless strategy with far-reaching consequences for regional security and stability.
According to Qatar News Agency, Fidan emphasized that if the Iranians had fully assessed the mounting pressures facing US President Donald Trump in the decision-making process and offered him a preemptive concession, the Israeli pressure would not have carried such weight or influence.
Fidan further explained that Iran's strategy is based on the notion that if it sinks, it will drag the entire region down with it. He pointed out that Turkiye is working with several countries to formulate a clear and defined position and prevent further aggravation of the conflict, adding that the menace of war spillover raises serious concerns for Turkiye.
