Tunis: Tunisian swimmer Ahmed Jaouadi clinched gold in the men's 1500-meter freestyle on Sunday at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. He finished in 14:34.41 after a fierce contest with Germany's Sven Schwarz, who took silver, while American Bobby Finke, the current world record holder, claimed bronze. Jaouadi had also won gold in the 800-meter freestyle earlier in the tournament.

According to Qatar News Agency, in other races Sunday, France's Leon Marchand topped the men's 400-meter individual medley in 4:04.73, ahead of Japan's Tomoyuki Matsushita and Russia's Ilya Borodin, who placed second and third. Lithuania's Ruta Meilutyte captured gold in the women's 50-meter breaststroke in 29.55 seconds, ahead of China's Qianting Tang and Italy's Benedetta Pilato.

Australia's Meg Harris won the women's 50-meter freestyle in 24.02 seconds, followed by China's Wu Qingfeng and Cheng Yujie. Russian Kliment Kolesnikov snagged gold in the men's 50-meter backstroke with a time of 23.55 seconds, ahead of compatriot Pavel Samusenko and South Africa's Pieter Coetze.

In addition, Canadian Summer McIntosh won the women's 400-meter individual medley in 4:25.78, edging out Australia's Jenna Forrester and Japan's Mio Narita, who shared silver after clocking identical times of 4:33.26.
