Trump Approves Russia-Ukraine Peace Plan

Washington: A US official stated that President Donald Trump has approved a newly developed peace plan between Russia and Ukraine, which has been formulated over recent weeks.

According to Qatar News Agency, the plan was discreetly prepared by senior US administration officials in consultation with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Ukrainian officials. The official noted that US Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff were involved in drafting the plan.

The official further mentioned that the plan emphasizes providing security guarantees for both sides, aiming to pave the way for a lasting peace agreement.

Meanwhile, US and European officials indicated that several key elements of the peace plan are still under revision. The release of the plan reportedly came as a surprise to both Ukrainian and European officials.

In a related development, a senior Ukrainian official disclosed new US proposals aimed at ending the conflict, coinciding with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his expected meetings with US military officials in Kyiv.

Direct talks between Moscow and Kyiv have not occurred since the Istanbul meeting in July, as Russian military operations in eastern Ukraine have persisted for nearly four years.
