Busan: US President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he has ordered the resumption of US nuclear weapons testing, which has been suspended for more than 30 years. Trump posted on Truth Social that he took the decision because other countries were doing the same, adding that the tests would resume immediately.
According to Qatar News Agency, Trump emphasized US nuclear superiority, stating that the United States possesses more nuclear weapons than any other country, and praised his efforts to fully modernize and renew the existing arsenal.
The brief announcement came ahead of Trump's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Busan, South Korea. He justified the move by pointing to testing programs by other countries, without explicitly naming Russia.
