Three-Member ISIS Cell Dismantled in Morocco and Spain

Rabat: Moroccan security authorities reported Wednesday that a three-member ISIS-affiliated cell was dismantled in collaboration with the Spanish police. The cell had been operating across Spain and Morocco.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) under Morocco's General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST) stated that coordinated operations in both countries led to the arrest of two operatives in Tangier.

Spanish authorities apprehended the cell's mastermind in Mallorca, Spain, according to Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP).

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two operatives in Morocco were involved in funneling funds and logistical support to ISIS fighters in the Sahel, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Somalia.

The mastermind is also suspected of plotting an attack in Spain.
