Doha: The play "The Ninth Hour" by the Qatar Theatre Troupe was performed Friday at the 37th Doha Theatre Festival. The play, produced by the Qatar Theatre Troupe, was performed as part of the competing shows at the 37th Doha Theatre Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, represented by the Theatre Affairs Center, in collaboration with the Qatar Events Center. According to Qatar News Agency, the play was performed at the U VENUE Theatre. The production, written by Maryam Naseer, adapted by dramaturg Ghenam Ghenam, and directed by Mohammed Al Mulla, featured a talented cast including Riam Al-Jazaery, Taleb Al-Dous, Mohammed Al Mutawa, Maryam Fahad, and Sameh Al Hajri. The chorus included Ali Rabsha, Ali Khazami, Ali Kamal Al-Din, Baraa Badawi, Ali Fatoum, Shiraz Lubia, Tima Al-Ghafir, Alia Al Saadi, and Rowan Al Rahiya. The narrative of "The Ninth Hour" centers around a poignant social drama within a family torn between emotions, thoughts, hope, illusion, and nostalgia. Following the performance, a practical seminar was conducted, where Director Jamal Al Saqr praised the festival's success, highlighted by a large audience turnout and the director's adept use of theatrical elements like scenography, lighting, and music. Al Saqr lauded the actors' creative performances, noting their skillful embodiment of the director's vision, and emphasized the effective use of the choir as an essential expressive element in the show. Mahmoud Al Jarsha also commended the quality of the script, the actors' performances, the outstanding directorial vision, and the audience's engagement with the play. The Doha Theatre Festival continues to reflect the Ministry of Culture's objectives, which aim to invigorate and develop Qatar's cultural landscape by supporting exceptional theatrical performances and encouraging Qatari theatre professionals to thrive in various theatrical arts fields. The festival also features the performance of "You Are Invited to a Party" by Tathkar Art Production Company on Saturday.
