Ramallah – Ma’an – The Independent Commission for Human Rights (Board of Grievances) warned of the serious repercussions resulting from the continuing serious Israeli threats to invade the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, which has become a refuge for about 1.3 million displaced people, who have been displaced there in recent months due to the genocidal war carried out by the army. The Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip, where displaced people suffer from a severe shortage of food, water, shelter, and medical services.
In a statement linked together, the Authority confirmed the increasing real fears of an invasion of the city of Rafah, with the occupation army asking the displaced people to go to the eastern areas of the city, which is a crowded area currently inhabited by more than a quarter of a million Palestinians, including tens of thousands of displaced people with their relatives or shelter centers, while The Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings are located in this area, which are the two main
corridors for bringing in aid.
The Independent Commission warned of the occurrence of another humanitarian catastrophe in addition to the massacres committed by the occupation army, especially with the occupation government’s decision to evacuate the eastern areas of the city as of today, Monday, May 6, towards Mawasi Khan Yunis, and the bombing of 11 homes in the city last night, which led to a rise in 26 martyrs.
She explained that today’s occupation decision demonstrates that Israel’s real goal is to continue carrying out genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The authority requested the following:
The international community is pressuring Israel, the occupying power, to stop the genocide and hold accountable the political and military occupation leaders responsible for the crimes committed against civilians in Gaza.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the specialized international bodies of the organization, to carry out their legal and moral responsibilities, inclu
ding serious pressure on ‘Israel’ and its allies to stop its aggressive approach.
The international community must exert serious pressure on Israel, the occupying power, to fulfill its legal obligations towards the occupied Palestinian territory, and its responsibility to provide protection for the Palestinian population in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 1949, and to stop the daily killing and policy of collective punishment against them.
The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court immediately begins serious work on investigations into the crimes committed by the occupation army against Palestinian civilians.
