In an issued statement on Thursday, MP Hagop Terzian called on the parliamentary committees and relevant ministries to ‘address the danger and find appropriate solutions to the Airbnb issue and its organization.”
He said that out of hope for a promising and at least touristic holiday and summer season, and out of concern for the state’s imports and the protection of the hotel sector, the ministries of finance, economy and tourism are reminded to accord attention to this matter.
Terzian pointed to the impact of the parallel market in all sectors, in this case in the tourism sector, not to mention the security risk during these fragile circumstances that our capital, Beirut, and all regions are experiencing. He highlighted the need to increase imports to the state while protecting and revitalizing the tourism sector.
“The parliamentary committees and relevant ministries must address the danger and find appropriate solutions regarding the issue of Airbnb and its regulation,” Terzian concluded.
