Syrian President Calls on Qatari Businessmen to Invest in Syria

Damascus: He President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed Al Sharaa, called on Qatari businessmen to invest in Syria, including forging projects and strategic partnerships between Qatari and Syrian companies. This initiative was highlighted during his meeting with a delegation from the Qatar Chamber (QC), led by HE Chairman of the QC Board of Directors, SHeikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, and included top officials and businessmen from Qatar. The Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al Shaibani, was also present.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Syria and Qatar in commercial and economic fields. It underscored the role of the private sector in fostering these relations, particularly amidst the extensive reconstruction efforts currently ongoing in Syria. HE Al Sharaa underscored the historical ties between the two nations, viewing them as a vital foundation for future investments.

HE Al Sharaa highlighted the reconstruction phase in Syria as an opportune moment for investment in sectors such as agriculture, industry, energy, and real estate. HE SHeikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani lauded the strong relations between Qatar and Syria, attributing them to the directives of HH the Amir SHeikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. He emphasized the interest and focus of Qatari businessmen on the Syrian market.

Plans are underway for a large delegation of Qatari businessmen to visit Syria, organized by the Qatar Chamber. This visit aims to bolster cooperation, explore investment opportunities, and establish trade partnerships. First Vice Chairman Mohammed bin Twar Al Kuwari expressed confidence in Syria's investment climate, while Second Vice Chairman Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba advocated for the development of investment laws that offer competitive advantages to investors.

Board Member of QC, Mohammed bin Mahdi Al Ahbabi, noted the enthusiasm among Qatari businessmen for investing in Syria, citing the country's fertile investment environment. The meeting concluded with an optimistic outlook on future collaborations and strategic partnerships between the two countries.
