Syrian Military: Three Service Members Killed in PKK, Former Regime Remnants’ Targeted Operations

Damascus: Three Syrian military servicemembers were killed and others injured in two operations conducted by armed groups from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and remnants of the erstwhile regime in Eastern Euphrates, the Military Operations Directorate of the Syrian Arab Army said in a statement on Monday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the statement added that these operations were intended to disrupt the enforcement of the ceasefire accord, reporting that units from the Syrian military arrived at the periphery of Al-Hasakah city in eastern Syria as part of the scheduled deployment plan outlined in the signed deal.

The Media and Communications Directorate of the Syrian Ministry of Defense highlighted that PKK militants planted multiple booby traps in Al-Shaddadah town in southern Al-Hasakah city, detonating two civilian vehicles and wounding all those aboard with varying injuries.

On Monday at dawn, the Syrian military forces and internal security personnel began deploying to areas in the north and east of the country, including the Eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, Al-Jazira region, Tishreen Dam, Northern countryside of Raqqa, and Western countryside of Hasakah, with the objective of reinforcing security and shielding civilians.

On Sunday, the Syrian Ministry of Defense declared a ceasefire on all fronts, thereby ceasing combat operations in various engagement areas, based on the ceasefire deal and the full integration of SDF within Syrian state institutions, signed by President Ahmed Al Sharaa on Sunday.
