Damascus: The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Canadian government's decision to lift sanctions imposed on Damascus, considering the move a positive development that reflects a growing awareness of the negative impact of the sanctions on the lives of Syrians and their vital sectors.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement Friday, the Ministry noted that the decision represents an important moment for strengthening Syrian-Canadian relations and opens a new phase of multifaceted partnerships.

The Ministry also affirmed Syria's readiness to cooperate with various international partners and engage constructively in ways that support economic recovery and reconstruction efforts, and serve the interests of the Syrian people and regional and international stability.
