Syria, France, US Agree to Continue Cooperation to Enhance Syria’s Stability

Doha: Syria, France, and the United States have affirmed their continued cooperation to ensure Syria's unity, stability, and sovereignty over its entire territory, as well as to support the capabilities of the Syrian state and its institutions in addressing security challenges.

According to Qatar News Agency, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, and US Ambassador to Turkiye and Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barak held a candid and constructive meeting in the French capital, Paris, as part of the close cooperation between the participating parties and at a critical moment for the Syrian Arab Republic.

The statement added that the participants agreed to swiftly engage in substantive efforts to advance the political transition process in Syria, ensuring the country's unity, stability, and sovereignty. They also pledged joint cooperation to combat terrorism in all its forms and to support the Syrian state and its institutions in facing security challenges. Moreover, they expressed support for the Syrian government in leading the political transition process aimed at achieving national reconciliation and enhancing social cohesion, particularly in northeastern Syria and the Suwayda Governorate.

The participants also agreed to work toward holding a round of consultations between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces in Paris as soon as possible to fully implement the Mar. 10 agreement.

The three countries further agreed to support efforts aimed at holding perpetrators of violence accountable and welcomed the outcomes of transparent reporting mechanisms, including the most recent report by the national independent commission tasked with investigating the events that took place along the Syrian coast. They also emphasized that neighboring countries should not pose a threat to Syria's stability, just as Syria reaffirmed its commitment not to threaten the security of its neighbors, in the interest of preserving regional stability as a whole.
