Strong Winds and High Seas Expected Offshore Wednesday

Doha: The Department of Meteorology has warned of strong winds and high seas offshore expected on Wednesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the department's daily weather report indicates that inshore conditions until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday will initially be hazy in some areas, with moderate temperatures during the day and scattered clouds at times. Conditions are expected to turn relatively cold to cold at night.

Offshore weather is forecast to start as hazy to misty, with scattered clouds, becoming partly cloudy at times. Inshore winds will be southeasterly to southwesterly at speeds of 5 to 15 knots, shifting later to northwesterly and gusting up to 25 knots in some areas during the afternoon. Offshore winds will be southeasterly at 5 to 15 knots, with gusts reaching up to 21 knots before turning northwesterly later at speeds of 12 to 23 knots.

Sea conditions inshore are expected to range between 1 and 3 feet, rising to around 5 feet later. Offshore seas will be between 2 and 4 feet, increasing to 3 to 7 feet later. Visibility inshore will range between 4 and 9 kilometers, while offshore visibility is also expected to be between 4 and 9 kilometers, dropping to 3 kilometers or less initially.
