Strong Winds and Dusty Conditions Forecast Today

Doha: The Department of Meteorology has warned of strong winds expected to affect some inshore areas by noon today, with strong winds and high seas forecast offshore.

According to Qatar News Agency, the department's daily weather report indicates that inshore conditions through 6:00 pm on Sunday will be moderate to relatively hot during the day, with slight dust to blowing dust in some areas. Temperatures are expected to turn relatively cold at night. Offshore areas may also experience slightly dusty conditions at times.

Inshore winds will be southwesterly at 5 to 15 knots initially, shifting to northwesterly by noon at speeds of 10 to 20 knots, with gusts reaching up to 30 knots at times. Offshore winds will begin southwesterly at 3 to 13 knots, before shifting to northwesterly by noon at 18 to 24 knots, with gusts of up to 32 knots.

Sea conditions inshore are expected to range between 1 and 3 feet, rising to around 5 feet at times. Offshore seas will range from 1 to 4 feet, increasing to between 7 and 10 feet at times. Visibility inshore is forecast to range between 4 and 9 kilometers, dropping to 3 kilometers or less in dusty conditions. Offshore visibility will range between 4 and 10 kilometers.
