State of Qatar Engages in UN Food Systems Summit in Addis Ababa

Addis ababa: The State of Qatar, through its Ministry of Municipality, participated in the 2nd UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) hosted by the United Nations in Ethiopia from July 27 to 29, 2025. The summit gathered representatives from various nations to discuss sustainable food system transformations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation was led by Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture and Food Security Affairs, Eng. Fahad Mohammed Al Qahtani. Al Qahtani engaged in multiple panel discussions and meetings that focused on advancing the efforts of member states toward effective and sustainable food system transformations.

During the summit, Qatar presented a voluntary national report. The report highlighted significant achievements in recent years concerning the development of a more sustainable and climate-resilient national food system. It emphasized Qatar's ability to adapt to supply chain disruptions while maintaining food security.

The report also detailed national plans aimed at continuing the transformation of food systems in alignment with the National Food Security Strategy 2030 objectives. The strategy outlines a comprehensive approach to enhancing food security and ensuring long-term sustainability in Qatar.
