Madrid: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez described the famine in the Gaza Strip as a "shame for all of humanity," stressing that ending this suffering "is a moral imperative."
According to Qatar News Agency, Sanchez made these statements during a press conference held Monday in Madrid, where he announced Spain's plan to airdrop 12 tons of food aid over Gaza. This decision comes amid a worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged and devastated Strip following 21 months of Israeli aggression.
Sanchez revealed that the aid drops are scheduled for next Friday and will be executed by Spanish Air Force aircraft departing from Jordan.
The Spanish Ministry of Defense highlighted that this operation would mirror one conducted in March 2024, when Madrid successfully delivered 26 tons of food supplies to the region. Spain is set to join Middle Eastern countries in sending aid to the people of Gaza, who are enduring a severe humanitarian crisis.
