Damascus: The Spanish National Statistics Office announced today that Spain's consumer price inflation rose by 2.7% in August, matching the growth rate recorded in July and in line with earlier preliminary data. Inflation measured by the European Union's harmonized index also stood at 2.7% year-on-year.
According to Qatar News Agency, core inflation, which excludes more volatile items such as food and energy, increased to 2.4% in August, up from 2.3% in July.
The data showed that transportation costs contributed to the annual rise in consumer prices, while housing and food prices had a negative impact during August.
