South Korea Demands North Korea Cease Missile Launches

Seoul:South Korea has called on North Korea to immediately halt its ballistic missile launches after detecting multiple missiles fired towards the East Sea. This development led to an emergency meeting of the presidential National Security Office.

According to Qatar News Agency, South Korea's Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung announced that the National Security Office made the appeal during the meeting, which was organized after the South Korean military detected the launches originating from the Pyongyang area on Monday.

In a written briefing, Kang stated that the repeated missile launches violated United Nations Security Council resolutions and were unhelpful for managing the current situation on the Korean Peninsula, urging Pyongyang to cease these activities immediately.

The meeting gathered officials from the Defense Ministry and the Joint Chiefs of Staff to evaluate South Korea's military readiness and security status in light of North Korea's recent missile activities.

The National Security Office also emphasized the need for all necessary measures to be taken while officials assessed the implications of the latest launches for South Korea's security.

Earlier, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that North Korea had launched multiple ballistic missiles towards the East Sea, with at least one traveling over 900 kilometers.
