Doha: The Shura Council on Monday held its regular weekly session at its headquarters in the Tamim bin Hamad Hall, chaired by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. At the outset of the session, HE Secretary-General of the Council Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud read out the agenda, after which the Council approved the minutes of its previous session.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the session, the Council examined a draft law on animal health, referred to it by the government, and decided to refer it to the Health, Public Services, and Environment Committee for further study. The Council also reviewed the report of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee regarding the government's statement on the Council's proposal to support national and foreign investment. The Shura Council commended the government's initiatives aimed at bolstering investment and economic development, aligning with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Council further reviewed reports on the participation of its members in international forums, including the World Trade Organization's Public Forum in Geneva and an expert roundtable organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union. On the eve of National Sports Day, HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim affirmed the Council's readiness to partake in activities emphasizing the importance of sports and public health. He praised the State's investment in sports infrastructure and called for regular community engagement in physical activities.
HE the Speaker encouraged citizens and residents to prioritize sports as a sustainable lifestyle, enhancing community health awareness. The session was attended by student council members from several local schools. In remarks following the session, HE Council Member Mohammed bin Yousef Al Mana lauded the government's thorough consideration of the Council's proposals on investment support. These proposals include evaluating the Third National Development Strategy, modernizing investment legislation, and developing digital systems to streamline business processes.
His Excellency highlighted ongoing collaborations between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the National Planning Council in evaluating the Third National Development Strategy. He noted the Ministry's efforts to advance digital services, such as the "One-Stop Shop" platform for investors, and mentioned a significant reduction in service fees by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
He commended the State's policies promoting national products and offering investment opportunities to the private sector across various sectors. His Excellency emphasized the cooperative roles of legislative and executive authorities in achieving the objectives and aspirations of the leadership and the people.
